PCOS & Endometriosis

PCOS & endometriosis: step-by-step care for your fertility

PCOS and endometriosis are two of the most common conditions affecting women’s fertility. With the right diagnosis and a gentle, stepwise plan, many women with these conditions go on to conceive.

Understanding the conditions

Two conditions, different paths

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) affects hormones and often stops regular ovulation. Endometriosis is when tissue similar to the womb lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain and sometimes affecting the ovaries and tubes. Each needs its own approach.

  • PCOS: helping you ovulate regularly
  • Endometriosis: easing pain and protecting fertility
  • Treatments from lifestyle and medicines to IUI or IVF
  • A plan that suits your symptoms and timeline

Who it’s for

Signs worth getting checked

If any of these sound familiar and you’re trying to conceive, a consultation can help.

Irregular or missed periods

A common sign that you may not be ovulating regularly (PCOS).

Weight changes or acne

Unexplained weight gain, acne or extra hair growth (PCOS).

Very painful periods

Pain that stops daily life is a common sign of endometriosis.

Pain during intercourse

Deep pain can be linked to endometriosis.

Ovarian cysts

Cysts seen on a scan, including endometriomas.

Trying without success

No pregnancy after a year of trying, or six months if over 35.

Your treatment path

What happens, step by step

We move up one step at a time, only when needed. Your doctor will explain each option.

Step by stepMany women start with simpler treatments and move on only if they need to
  1. 1

    Consultation & diagnosis

    1–2 visits

Your history, an ultrasound scan and hormone tests (including AMH) help confirm the condition.

  2. 2

    Lifestyle & medical care

    Ongoing

For PCOS, healthy weight and diet can restore ovulation. For endometriosis, medicines can ease pain.

  3. 3

    Ovulation induction

    A few cycles

Tablets or injections help you ovulate, with scans to time intercourse or IUI.

  4. 4

    Surgery (if advised)

    Case by case

For endometriosis, keyhole surgery (laparoscopy) may be advised to diagnose or treat it.

  5. 5

    IUI or IVF

    If needed

If simpler steps don’t work, or tubes or egg reserve are affected, IUI or IVF may be recommended.

Success factors

What affects your chances

Every woman’s condition is different. These are the main things your doctor looks at.

01

Age

Chances are better when treatment starts earlier.

02

Ovulation response

How well you respond to ovulation medicines (PCOS).

03

Severity

How widespread endometriosis is, and whether tubes or ovaries are affected.

04

Ovarian reserve

Your AMH level and egg count on scan.

05

Weight & metabolism

A healthy weight can greatly improve PCOS outcomes.

06

Partner’s sperm quality

Both partners’ health matters.

Our honest approach: PCOS and endometriosis can’t always be cured, but they can be managed. Dr. Rekha will explain your options clearly and help you choose the right pace for you.

PCOS & endometriosis FAQs

Your questions, answered

Still unsure? Ask us on WhatsApp

Can I get pregnant with PCOS?
Yes. Many women with PCOS conceive, often with lifestyle changes or medicines that help them ovulate. IVF is an option if simpler treatments don’t work.
Does losing weight help PCOS?
For many women, even a small amount of weight loss can help restore regular ovulation.
Can endometriosis cause infertility?
It can, by affecting the ovaries, tubes or pelvic environment. Many women with endometriosis still conceive, with or without treatment.
Do I need surgery for endometriosis?
Not always. Surgery may help in some cases, but it depends on your symptoms, age and plans. Dr. Rekha will discuss the pros and cons with you.
Is IVF the only option?
No. We usually start with simpler options and move to IVF only when it gives you a better chance.
How is PCOS diagnosed?
Through your symptoms, hormone blood tests and an ovarian ultrasound scan.
